Did you know that you can carry out CPR (CardioPulmonary Resuscitation) on a Laryngectomy patient if they stop breathing?
Laryngectomee patients (also known as ‘neck breathers’) can have resuscitation attempted on them but ventilations need to be mouth to stoma rather than mouth to mouth.
The National Association of Laryngectomee Clubs is promoting an awareness campaign designed to highlight the needs of laryngectomy / neck breathing patients when requiring emergency aid and resuscitation. Read the letter and attached leaflet for more information.
